Für die Chianti Classico Region was dies ein spektakulärer Jahrgang. Ein milder, feuchter Winter sorgte für eine optimale Wachstumsperiode. Dank ausreichender Wasserreserven aus den Niederschlägen haben die Reben den heißen und trockenen Sommer gut überstanden. Die spürbaren Temperaturtagesschwankungen auf dem Weingut spiegeln sich in diesem nahezu perfekten Jahrgang wider: geringe Erträge und qualitativ hochwertige Trauben mit lebendiger, konzentrierter Säure und kräftigen Tanninen.

Campolupi 2021 ist der erste Jahrgang unserer zweiten Gran Selezione, gekeltert einzig aus dem Traubengut von den höchst gelegenen Sangiovese-Blöcken auf circa 550 Metern Höhe. Campolupi bedeutet "Feld der Wölfe" und ist eine Anspielung auf die Wölfe, die erneut die Hänge rund um diese Weinbergsblöcke durchstreifen. Diese erste Ausgabe ist atemberaubend, mit verlockenden Aromen von Veilchen, reifen Pflaumen und schwarzem Pfeffer. Der Wein ist üppig und vollmundig, wobei er ein schönes Gleichgewicht zwischen der rassigen Säure des Sangioveses und der runden Intensität des Colorino findet. Am Gaumen explodieren die Aromen von Blaubeeren und Cassis, die durch Kräuternoten von Salbei und Rosmarin ergänzt werden. Der lange Abgang verströmt einen Hauch von Zedernholz und Waldboden.
